Strong, member-owned forest industry player enters the market

The market has gained a solid new forest industry player. Norra Timber has sawmills with world-class technology and modern, well-invested units for added value products, plus the backing of 27,000 forest-owning co-owners, ensuring access to slow-grown timber from northern Sweden and a secure raw material supply. Norra Timber is a welcome market resource for wood product customers.

Norra Timber comprises three sawmills and four units for added value products. The raw material from northern Sweden promises consistent and high quality wood products, while the high tech processing facilities deliver a range that can be developed and adapted to the demands of the market.
“Norra Timber is already a full-service wood processing company with the capability to measure up against the sharpest players in the market, but we also see great potential to further develop our offering to meet the more complex needs of the future,” says Erik Eliasson, Sales Director at Norra Timber.

Behind Norra Timber stands the newly formed forest owners’ association Norra Skog, a major player in geographical, volume and production terms. Norra Skog was formed in the middle of May through a merger between Norra Skogsägarna and Norrskog, and is owned by 27,000 forest owners in northern Sweden. In Norra Timber, the new forest owners’ association has a well-balanced industrial manufacturer with scope to optimise the value of the owners’ forests. The supply options in each catchment area are good and the business has well-established and organised wood logistics.
“Our combined industrial resources make us an extremely strong and stable supplier with the capacity to also meet major industrial customers’ demands for predictability and large-scale service packages,” concludes Erik Eliasson.
