The new stacker, with increased capacity, will replace older equipment to boost health and safety at work, productivity and availability. At the same time, a new sticker placer with optimized placement will be introduced, helping to reduce quality-related issues such as end checks. The upgraded equipment will also enable handling of larger packages, thereby cutting the need for internal transport, lowering diesel consumption, and reducing CO₂ emissions.
“This is a step towards more sustainable production,” says Thomas Haiduga, Sawmill Manager at Hissmofors.
Hissmofors is one of Norra Timber’s key sawmills, where a long industrial tradition meets modern, efficient production. Since the early 1980s, the sawmill has been continuously developed into a state-of-the-art facility with a fully optimized saw line and a versatile planing division. The site also has strong logistical advantages and its own bioenergy plant – which supplies surplus heat to the local community.
Collaboration with Finnish supplier
Following a thorough procurement process, Hissmofors sawmill has now signed an agreement with Finnish company Jartek, which will deliver both the stacker and the new stick placer. Delivery is planned for spring 2026, with installation and commissioning scheduled for autumn the same year. To accommodate the new equipment, existing buildings will be modified.
“This is the biggest step we’ve taken since the sawmill line was built in the 1980s. It will not only increase production but also bring significant improvements to the working environment. At the same time, this investment shows that the board believes in us and in Hissmofors. It strengthens our future here in the region, secures jobs, and confirms that the sawmill will remain for the long term,” says Thomas Haiduga.
“We are proud to have earned Norra Timber’s trust for this important delivery. The project not only strengthens our presence in Sweden but also demonstrates our ability to provide innovative and efficient solutions that support our customers’ growth and competitiveness,” says Kari Puustinen, Sales Director at Jartek.
