After several challenging years, cautious signs of recovery are now emerging for wood-based construction products. The construction markets in both Sweden and Norway appear to have passed the bottom, but the recovery remains gradual. Customers are still cautious, creating a more selective market where choosing the right product at the right time matters more than large volumes.

After several years of subdued demand for wood products, the market is now looking towards a gradual recovery. Beneath the surface, however, the fundamentals have shifted. Europe’s sawmilling industry is entering the next cycle with structurally lower capacity, tighter raw material supply and significantly higher cost risk than before.
