High Share of Recycled Plastic in Norra Timber’s Packaging

Norra Timber continues to reduce its climate impact by using a high share of recycled plastic in its packaging solutions. At the sawmills in Hissmofors and Kåge, the share reaches 79–89 percent, which is above levels commonly seen in the industry.

Reducing climate impact is a key part of Norra Timber’s sustainability work. As customer demand for more environmentally adapted products increases, the company is actively working to increase the share of recycled material in its packaging.

At Hissmofors, packaging for timber bundles currently consists of 89 percent recycled plastic. At Kåge, the share is 79 percent, where an additional anti-slip layer slightly affects the total share. For plastic used in shavings bales, 50 percent recycled material is used today, with ongoing efforts to further increase that proportion.

”We continuously work to reduce our climate impact, and increasing the share of recycled plastic is one concrete way to support our customers in their environmental efforts. I’m proud that we are among the leading companies in this area,” says Erik Högbom, Sales Manager at Norra Timber.
